I've been playing with a graphic short story exploration of my brother’s poem HOAX. The script that I’ve developed involves two characters: Rob, the young man that was my brother; and Helen, a love he'd once known.
Recently, whilst mulling over which illustrative style might best realise the script and most sensitively chart the journey of Rob and Helen's relationship, I came across the photo blog of London-based, multifaceted creative Danielle Shaw; and I found myself strangely drawn to it.
So I got in touch with Danielle, to chat about the possibility of a photo-based realisation of my script: a photo story, almost, but one born of fine art. We talked about the amazing moments of light and dark in her photos, and about Danielle's love of projected light as part of a landscape. It was thrilling to hear, and to get that lovely tingling sensation I get when great creative powers are about to converge….
