And the very first of those is the brilliant news that Arts Council England have confirmed the second stage funding for my cross-media storytelling project HOAX.
Arts Council England are just one of several partners that have financially supported this project. Others include Royal Exchange, University of Nottingham, Very Cross Media, and private sponsorship.
Last time I posted about HOAX it was to announce the scheduling of dark musical HOAX My Lonely Heart at Royal Exchange in Manchester (http://www.royalexchange.co.uk/event.aspx?id=791). What we didn’t announce, however, was that this scheduling was dependent on all of our funding coming through.
Yes, we were confident, and we carried on working and moving the project forward – because you have to maintain that kind of drive and belief if you’re ever going to get anywhere in writing and the arts – but we could never really have known for sure, and it’s certainly a relief to now have this funding confirmed.
The money means many things. But, in particular, that castings and rehearsals can now be put in place, and that HOAX Psychosis Blues, the graphic novel we’ve been quietly beavering away on over the last few months, will have its beautiful print run!
More news on the graphic novel soon. In the meantime I’m currently re-doing the HOAX pages on my website to try and show more clearly the journey this project has been on since it began in August 2012. I’ll let you know when the pages are up.
